Lighter Now
Two salvaged pieces of wood from a destroyed artifact are sanded clean of their aged stain. Initially the lumber functioned as a night stand I acquired through a romantic partner. This relationship left my life in a chaotic way as I transitioned from warehouse manufacturing to studying sculpture at the Kansas City Art Institute. The surface of these shelves serve as test pieces for following work involving tufted upholstery methods. This is the first piece I have documented in my bedroom. A personal interior, plants, and glowing blinds are meant to inspire a feeling of hope and growth despite materials of heartbreak and vice.
